About the Family:

We are a loving family in Colorado Springs with two wonderful children: an 8-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. Both our children are on the autism spectrum but are high-functioning. They are bright and engaging individuals who thrive with structure and support. Our son is particularly smart and sweet and benefits from having someone present to engage him in activities. Both children sometimes experience tantrums and need a calm and patient individual to help them manage their emotions.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and responsible individual to serve as a full-time Household Manager and Childcare Assistant. This role will involve a mix of household tasks and providing support and engagement for our children, particularly our 8-year-old son. We need someone who can help create and maintain a structured schedule and assist with emotional regulation.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM 

Responsibilities:

  • Morning (5:00 AM - School Drop-off):
    • Assist with the morning routine (getting ready, breakfast).
    • Ensure children are prepared for school.
    • Drop off children at school.
  • Throughout the Day (While Children are at School):
    • Household management tasks, including cleaning and tidying.
    • Taking care of our dog and cat.
    • Helping with dinner preparation.
  • End of Day (School Pick-up - 6:00 PM):
    • Picking up children from school.
    • Helping children settle in at home.
    • Assisting with homework.
    • Engaging our 8-year-old son in activities.
    • Providing support with emotional regulation as needed.
    • Managing occasional tantrums in a calm and effective manner.
    • Helping to maintain a structured daily schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder, is highly preferred.
  • Patience, understanding, and a calm demeanor are essential.
  • Ability to create and maintain a structured environment.
  • Experience assisting with emotional regulation and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle household tasks efficiently.
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Must be comfortable with pets (dog and cat).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Background check will be required.
